VOLLEYBALL CLOSES NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH
THREE-SET SWEEP AT BACONE COLLEGE
MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma –
Arkansas Tech Volleyball swept Bacone College (25-15,
25-8, 25-19) in three sets here on Tuesday night to
close out the non-conference portion of its 2009
schedule.
With the win, Tech improves to 22-11 on the season and
the Golden Suns finished with a 16-8 non-conference
record and is now 17-6 on the season in three-set
matches.
For the match, Tech was lead by junior middle blocker
Sarah Von Lienen (Lakeland, Tenn.). Von Lienen, who
was named the GSC West Division Offensive Player of the
Week for the third consecutive week earlier in the day
on Tuesday, recorded eight kills on 20 attempts and
added four total blocks on the night. In addition to Von
Lienen, sophomore outside hitter Laura Farney
(Morton, Ill.) had seven kills on 20 attempts and
sophomore libero Brennae Benda (Woodstcok, Ill.)
added 14 digs win the win.
Bacone was led by Amy Mulcock, who had six kills, while
Daisy Rios added 10 digs in the loss.
Tech returns to action on Thursday Oct. 29,
when they close out the home portion of its schedule
with a Gulf South Conference match against Christian
Brothers. Thursday’s match, which is being billed as
“Trick or Treat Night” begins at 7 p.m. in Tucker
Coliseum.
