THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC
ALL-DISTRICT VI VOLLEYBALL SELECTION
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech’s Kayla Allison has been named an ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District VI College
Division Volleyball selection by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Allison,
a sophomore setter from Tulsa, Okla., was named a
Third-Team selection this season after being a
First-Team selection last season. Allison was one of
three Gulf South Conference players named to
All-District third team. Other GSC players named to the
third team were Harding’s Leah Tepe and Southern
Arkansas’ Andrea Spradlin.
In order to be eligible for the Academic All-America
honors, a student-athlete must have at least 3.20
cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be
a starter or an important reserve and be in at least
their second season of athletic and academic eligibility
at their current school.
Allison,
who carries a 3.75 cumulative grade point average in
nursing, has seen action in all of 34 matches heading
into Friday’s GSC Tournament contest against North
Alabama. This season, Allison, who has been named a
First-Team All-GSC West Division selection, recorded
1,274 assists, which was seventh most in single-season
school history and also has recorded 128 kills (1.09 kpg)
and 349 digs (2.98 dpg) and has had a team-leading 18
double-doubles. In addition, she recently became just
the third Golden Sun player to record 4,000 career
assists and is just 122 assists shy of setting a new
career school assist mark. With her first team All-GSC
selection this season, Allison became the ninth Tech
player to earn All-GSC accolades for three straight
seasons.
Allison has helped lead the Golden Suns to a 22-12
overall record and an 8-4 mark in the GSC, which earned
Tech the No. 3 seed from the West Division at this
weekend’s GSC Tournament in Searcy, Ark. Allison and her
teammates open GSC Tournament play on Friday, Nov. 9
against North Alabama at 5 p.m.
With her selection this season, Allison
becomes Tech’s 11th all-time CoSIDA Academic
All-District VI volleyball selection.
CoSIDA members in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana,
Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas were
responsible for the voting.
