TENNIS COLLECTS NON-CONFERENCE ROAD WIN AT JOHN BROWN

The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis picked up a 9-0
road victory here last Friday over John Brown
University.
With the win, Tech improves to 13-3 on the season, while
JBU falls to 5-9 on the season.
Tech swept all six individual singles matches and also
went unbeaten in the three doubles matches.
In singles competition, senior Anna Carson (Fort
Smith, Ark.) defeated Emily Caneday (6-1, 6-1) at No. 1;
sophomore Saki Matsuoka (Saitama, Japan) took
down Amanda Keenan (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2; freshman
Brittany Turner (Pearcy, Ark.) was victorious over
Christine Hendee (6-1, 6-2) at No. 3; senior Kristen
Brown (Winona, Texas) got a win over Audrey Phillips
(6-0, 6-1) at No. 4; sophomore Jessica James
(Valley Springs, Ark.) defeated Margo Smith (6-1, 6-1)
at No 5; and freshman Ashley Baird (Cabot, Ark.)
picked up a victory over Carrie George (6-3, 6-0).
In doubles action, Carson and Matsuoka knocked off
Keenan and Hardee (8-0) at No. 1; Turner teamed with
sophomore Michelle Yu (Flower Mound, Texas) to
beat Carneday and Phillips (8-3) at No. 2, and James and
Brown joined forces to defeat Smith and Christine
McPherson (8-1) at No. 3.
