GOLDEN SUNS DROP FIRST TENNIS MATCH OF THE SEASON
AT HARDING

SEARCY, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis continued its spring portion of its schedule here Tuesday by dropping a 7-2 non-conference decision to Harding. The loss was Tech’s first of the season and dropped the Golden Suns’ record to 2-1 overall.

Harding, who is ranked fourth in the NCAA D-II South Region and 38th nationally and improved to 4-2 on the season, opened by taking two of the three doubles matches, with senior Whitney Simmons (Pottsville, Ark.) and junior Kristen Brown (Winona, Texas) preventing a Lady Bisons sweep with its 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Tech collected a win at No. 6 as Brown defeated Harding’s Katy Turnbow in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. In addition, Simmons and freshman Michelle Yu (Flower Mound, Texas) lost in tiebreakers at No. 5 and No. 4 singles respectively.

Tech will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they welcome the University of Ozarks to Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex for a 10 a.m. match.
