GOLDEN SUNS DROP FIRST TENNIS MATCH OF THE SEASON
AT HARDING

Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis continued its spring
portion of its schedule here Tuesday by dropping a 7-2
non-conference decision to Harding. The loss was Tech’s
first of the season and dropped the Golden Suns’ record
to 2-1 overall.
Harding, who is ranked fourth in the NCAA D-II South
Region and 38th nationally and improved to 4-2 on the
season, opened by taking two of the three doubles
matches, with senior Whitney Simmons (Pottsville,
Ark.) and junior Kristen Brown (Winona, Texas)
preventing a Lady Bisons sweep with its 9-7 win at No. 3
doubles.
In singles play, Tech collected a win at No. 6 as Brown
defeated Harding’s Katy Turnbow in straight sets, 6-3,
7-5. In addition, Simmons and freshman Michelle Yu
(Flower Mound, Texas) lost in tiebreakers at No. 5 and
No. 4 singles respectively.
Tech will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, when
they welcome the University of Ozarks to Chartwells
Women’s Sports Complex for a 10 a.m. match.
