GOLDEN SUNS TENNIS DROPS GSC ROAD MATCH

Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis returned to Gulf South
Conference action here Thursday as they dropped a 7-2
decision to Harding.
Tech, whose record fell to 4-13 on the season and 0-2 in
the GSC, opened the match by winning at No. 3 doubles,
its first win in doubles action in conference play.
Juniors Whitney Simmons (Pottsville, Ark.) and
Renee Malcuit (Lakeside, Calif.) defeated Harding’s
No. 3 doubles team of Katherine Golik and Linnea Jordan
by a score of 8-5.
Meanwhile, in singles action, Simmons collected Tech’s
other point in the match as she collected a third-set
tiebreaker win over Golik at No. 5 singles. Harding won
the other five singles matches in straight sets as they
limited Tech to just eight points.
With the win, Harding, who is ranked fifth in the latest
regional rankings, improved to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in
the GSC.
Tech will return to action on Tuesday, April 3 when they
host Hendrix College at Old Post Park in Russellville.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
