GOLDEN SUNS DROP HOME MATCH LAST THURSDAY TO HARDING

Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis continued Gulf South
Conference play here last Thursday by falling 7-2 to
Harding at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex.
With the loss, Tech dropped its record to 7-5 overall
and 0-2 in the GSC, while Harding, who is fourth in the
NCAA D-II South Region, improved to 10-2 overall and ran
its winning streak to eight straight.
The Lady Bisons opened the match by taking all three
doubles matches, including winning at No. 1 and No. 2
doubles by identical 8-3 scores.
In singles play, Tech junior Anna Carson (Fort
Smith, Ark.) collected a win at No. 2 singles in a
tiebreaker and Tech junior Kristen Brown (Winona,
Texas) won in straight sets at No. 5 singles to help
prevent Harding from sweeping the match. In addition to
Carson’s tiebreaker at No. 2 singles, freshman
Michelle Yu (Flower Mound, Texas) lost in a
tiebreaker to Harding’s Katherine Golik.
The Golden Suns will return to action on Thursday, April
3, when they travel to Clarksville, Ark., to face the
University of Ozarks in a 2 p.m. match.
