GOLDEN SUNS TENNIS POSTS ROAD WIN OVER OZARKS
CLARKSVILLE,

The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis team rebounded
quite well here Tuesday after suffering its first loss
of the season this past Saturday to Delta State by
posting a 9-0 win over the University of Ozarks.
With the victory Tech ups its record to 12-1 on the
season, while Ozarks falls to 1-7 on the season.
In singles action, senior Anna Carson (Fort
Smith, Ark.) defeated Lea Ranna, 6-1, 6-1) at the No. 1
spot, while freshman Brittany Turner (Pearcy,
Ark.) defeated Briar Vona 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 and senior
Kristen Brown (Winona, Texas) claimed a 6-2, 6-0
victory over Lauren Jardieu at the No. 3 spot. Sophomore
Michelle Yu (Flower Mound, Texas) defeated
Brittany Hein, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4, sophomore Jessica
James (Valley Springs, Ark.) collected a 6-2, 6-2
win over Jennifer Fretwell at No. 5 and freshman
Ashley Baird defeated Lindsey Hanna (6-3, 6-0.) at
No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Carson and Matsuoka paired up at No. 1
and defeated Rana and Vona, 8-4, while Brown and Turner
picked up a victory over Hein and Fretwell at No. 2 and
Yu and James joined forces to knock off Jardieu and
Hanna at No. 3.
The Golden Suns will return to action on
Wednesday, March 18, with a Gulf South Conference match
against Henderson State in Arkadelphia. The match is
slated to begin at 4 p.m.
