GOLDEN SUNS TO PARTNER ONCE AGAIN WITH ARKANSAS RIVER VALLEY TENNIS ASSOCIATION TO HOST TENNIS BLOCK PARTY

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech Tennis Coach Abby Davis has announced that her tennis team will partner once again this year with the Arkansas River Valley Tennis Association (ARVTA) to host a Tennis Block Party on Sunday, June 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Tech’s Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex.

The Tennis Block Party is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) recognized event and is being held to spark community interest in tennis. ARTVA is continuing to revitalize community and recreational tennis in the River Valley area.

“This is a great way for the Golden Suns tennis program to be involved with the community and help children and adults of all ages learn how fun and rewarding tennis can be,” Davis said. “We encourage everyone to come out and have a good time with their family and meet some of the Golden Sun players and the ARVTA members.

“We hope this will continue to strengthen the relationship of Tech tennis with the community of Russellville and the River Valley area.”

The three-hour event will kick-off at 4 p.m. with a 30 minute meet and greet of current ARVTA members and several of Tech’s tennis players. At 4:30 p.m., all participants will head to the tennis courts at the Chartwells Complex for on-court drill instruction by Davis. Davis says that the drills will be broken down into four groups - children ages 10 and under; juniors ages 10-18; Beginning adults and Intermediate adults.

Following the on-court instruction, everyone will meet at 5:30 p.m. to learn more about the programs and leagues they can be involved in this summer to continue to play tennis. At 5:45 p.m., everyone will head back to the tennis courts as the children will participate in a tennis obstacle course, a fastest serve contest will be offered for adults and Davis will conduct a Cardio Tennis demonstration.

The event will conclude at 6:30 p.m. with pizza and drinks for everyone who attends the block party.

Davis says that the event is open to anyone of any age and any skill level.

“The ARVTA is looking to find enthusiastic tennis players in the River Valley area that want to play tennis and be physically active in this life long sport,” the Tech coach said.
