RAIN FORCES CANCELLATION OF TUESDAY'S NON-CONFERENCE
DOUBLEHEADER AT ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Softball has announced that
its doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, has
been cancelled due to a forecast that calls for a 100
percent chance of rain across the state of Arkansas on
Tuesday.
It is the fourth time this season that inclement weather
has cancelled games on the Golden Suns. Earlier this
season, Tech had the final two games of the GSC/Midwest
Crossover Tournament at Tunica, Miss., cancelled due to
rain, while the Golden Suns had its tournament at
Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., cancelled due to
rain and had its tournament at Missouri Southern in
Joplin, Mo., cancelled due to wintery weather.
“The forecast calls for a likelihood of rain tomorrow,
so UAPB officials decided it would be best to cancel the
doubleheader ahead of time,” Golden Suns Head Coach
Gidget Pambianchi said. “Due to the availability of
dates the remainder of the season, it was decided that
the doubleheader will get rescheduled this season.”
Tech, who is off to a program-best 21-5 overall record
and is 6-0 in the GSC, will now return to action on
Friday, March 21, when they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark.,
to face Ouachita Baptist in a doubleheader beginning at
1 p.m. On Saturday, OBU and Tech will face each other
again in Russellville for a doubleheader beginning at 11
a.m. at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex.
