TIPHANI MOON NAMED SECOND-TEAM DAKTRONICS NCAA D-II
ALL-SOUTH REGION SOFTBALL SELECTION

Arkansas Tech sophomore first baseman Tiphani Moon
(Euless, Texas) has been named a 2009 Second-Team
Daktronics NCAA Division II All-South Region Softball
selection on Wednesday.
The
All-South Region honor for Moon is the first in her
career and she becomes the school’s first-ever
Daktronics All-South Region selection.
Moon was one of 15 players from the Gulf South
Conference and one of just two players from the West
Division, named to one of the two Daktronics All-South
Region teams that are voted on by the Sports Information
Directors (SIDs) from all the schools in the NCAA
Division II South Region.
All first-team honorees will now advance to Daktronics
NCAA Division II All-American ballot.
Alabama-Huntsville and Rollins led the way with five
players selected and Valdosta State, the 2009 GSC
Champion, had four players selected to one of the two
teams. West Alabama had three players selected, while
Florida Southern and Barry each had two players
selected. In the individual awards, Valdosta State’s
Marti Littlefield was named the South Region Player of
the Year and Rollins’ Nicole Anderson was named the
South Region Pitcher of the Year.
Moon
earned her Second-Team All-South Region honor after
helping the Golden Suns win its second consecutive GSC
West Division title, a school-record 42 wins and a
runner-up finish for the second straight year at the GSC
Softball Tournament in Southaven, Miss. On the season,
Moon, who was a repeat First-Team All-GSC West Division
selection, hit .372 with 70 hits and 37 runs scored in
188 at-bats. In addition, she led the way with a school
single-season record 10 home runs, recorded 38 RBIs and
hit 13 doubles in 63 games. She also holds the school’s
career record in homers (17), RBIs (80) and slugging
percentage (.580) and is second in career batting
average (.349) and doubles (29).
Joining Moon on the second team is Rollins second

Hawkins.
The first-team Daktronics All-South Region team includes
