Tech's Essink chosen All-South

Arkansas Tech's Erin Essink has been named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II
second team All-South Central Region Volleyball Team.
Essink, a 6-foot senior middle hitter from Lincoln, Neb., led Tech with a .236
hitting percentage and 1.17 blocks per game and was the team's second leading
attack specialist with 3.42 kills per outing.
Named as the Gulf South Conference player of the week three times during the
2004 campaign, Essink recorded 15 double-doubles during the season, including 23
double-figure kill and 17 double-figure dig matches.
She was the team leader in blocks with 130, averaging 1.17 per game.
Essink became only the seventh player in Tech volleyball history to reach the
1,000 mark in kills, finishing her four-year career with 1,017.
Only five players from the Gulf South Conference were named to the
13-player all-region team. Joining Essink were Amie Morrison and Kate Kennedy of
Harding, Emily Miller of Alabama-Huntsville and Carla Silveira of Henderson
State.
