Arkansas Tech's Erin Essink has been named as the Gulf South Conference volleyball defensive player-of-the-week.

Essink, a 6-foot senior middle hitter from Lincoln, Neb., helped the Golden Suns defeat Missouri Southern in five games last week at Tucker Coliseum with 22 digs and 6 blocks.

She also had 23 kills and a .229 hitting percentage and a couple of serve aces.
