Essink, Allums named to all-tourney volleyball
team

QUINCY, Ill. --- Arkansas Tech's Erin Essink and Kelly Allums have been named
to the Quincy University/McDonald's All-Tournament Volleyball Team.
Essink, a 6-foot senior from Lincoln, Neb., and Allums, a 5-10 junior from
Houston, Texas, played instrumental roles in helping Tech to a 2-2 showing in
the two-day Quincy Classic which ended last Saturday evening.
Essink completed the Golden Suns' four matches with 51 kills, a .246 hitting
percentage, 40 digs, 6 blocks and 4 serving aces.
Allums finished with 58 kills, a .176 hitting effort, 59 digs and 6 blocks.
During the two-day affair, Tech defeated host Quincy 3-2 and Saginaw Valley
State of Michigan 3-0, but lost to Missouri-St. Louis 3-0 and Armstrong Atlantic
3-0.
Armstrong Atlantic headed up the all-tournament selections with four players:
Traci Knuth, Candice Moldinski, Christina Flores and Darcy Krug. Also named were
Amber Heimann of Quincy and Heather Nichols of Missouri-St. Louis.
