Raspaut, Beck represent Tech on All-GSC tennis
squad
April 19, 2005
Julie Raspaut and Leesa Beck of Arkansas Tech University have been selected
to the 2005 All-Gulf South Conference West Division tennis team.
Raspaut, a senior from Toulon, France, was named to the All-GSC West Division
first team. Beck, a senior from Keller, Texas, earned All-GSC West second team
honors.
It is the second All-GSC award for both players. Raspaut was an All-GSC West
Division selection in 2004, while Beck also made the honor squad in 2003.
Raspaut and Beck helped the Golden Suns post an overall record of 7-16, a
conference mark of 3-5 and a sixth-place finish in the GSC West Division under
first-year head coach Abby Davis during the 2005 tennis season.
Maja Kovacev of Central Arkansas was named GSC West Division player of the year,
while Karina Gornes of Harding took GSC West Division freshman of the year
honors.
Central Arkansas won the GSC West Division championship and West Florida
captured the GSC East Division title during the regular season, but it was
Valdosta State that won the GSC Tournament championship in Pensacola, Fla., last
weekend. Valdosta State defeated West Florida 5-3 in the championship match on
Sunday.
