Arkansas Tech junior forward Rone Smith has been named as the Gulf South Conference West Division player of the week.

Smith, the first Tech player to claim league honors this season, led the Wonder Boys to a 2-0 week as he averaged 23 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against Incarnate Word and Central Baptist.

He also shot 67.9 percent from the field (19-of-28) and 72.7 percent from the free throw line (8-of-11).

The Wichita, Kan., native led all players with 20 points and 10 rebounds in Tech's 65-58 win at Incarnate Word. He then ended the week by scoring the go-ahead bucket in the Wonder Boys' 68-66 home win over Central Baptist, finishing the evening with a game-high 26 points, five rebounds and a trio of assists.
