Tech coaches select MVP's following win over

The Arkansas Tech football coaching staff has selected its most valuable
players from the Wonder Boys' 24-20 NCAA playoff win over Catawba last Saturday
afternoon at Buerkle Field.
Offensive honors are shared by running back R.J. Vanhook and wide receiver
Thomas Hosey. Vanhook, a 5-9, 193-pound freshman from Prescott, rushed for 152
yards on 27 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 18 and 1 yards. Hosey, a
5-11, 201-pound junior from Laurel, Miss., caught seven passes for 121 yards.
Cedric Cursh, a 6-3, 215-pound sophomore from Foreman, took defensive honors for
the day. Cursh had 10 total tackles, 2 of those for losses of 9 yards; one
quarterback sack for a loss of 7 yards; forced one fumble and recovered 2
fumbles.
His sack of Catawba quarterback Luke Samples in the end zone gave the Wonder
Boys a safety and a 21-20 lead in the fourth period.
The special teams' award went to kicker Mark Ewersmann, a 6-1, 188-pound junior
from Little Rock. Ewersmann kicked field goals of 32 and 28 yards and converted
two successful point-after kicks.
