Tech coaches select MVP's following win over

The Arkansas Tech football coaching staff has selected its most valuable
players from the Wonder Boys' 42-28 Gulf South Conference win over the
University of West Alabama last Saturday afternoon in Livingston, Ala.
Offensive honors went to wide receiver Mark Caldwell, a 6-3, 196-pound sophomore
from Crossett. Caldwell graded out 86 percent with three pass receptions for 101
yards, two knock downs and two explosions. His longest pass reception, 69 yards,
set up Tech's first touchdown of the game.
LaMarcus Irvin, a 5-11, 185-pound sophomore from Dallas, Texas, took defensive
honors with an 84 percent grade. Irvin had 4 total tackles, three of which were
solo efforts; one tackle for a loss; six hits; and one pass interception which
was returned 37 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to give the Wonder
Boys a 14-0 lead.
Special team honors went to Rico Brown, a 6-2, 210-pound sophomore from
Crossett. He collected 17 points from the staff and made an on-side kick
recovery in the third period after West Alabama had gotten to within 35-21 of
the Wonder Boys.
