August 30, 2004

Arkansas Tech kicker Mark Ewersmann has been named as the Gulf South Conference special teams player-of-the-week for his role in the Wonder Boys' 52-28 season opening win over Northeastern State University last week.

Ewersmann, a 6-1, 188-pound junior from Little Rock Catholic, turned in
a perfect performance by hitting all seven of his point-after attempts and nailing a 27-yard third period field goal.

The league's offensive player-of-the-week was Central Arkansas running back Kentrel Rogers, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 44 yards and one score in the Bears' 38-31 win over Eastern New Mexico.

UCA's Cory Cangelosi, a strong safety, was named as the league's top defensive player after being credited with 14 total tackles ---- 11 of which were solo efforts ---- and one pass interception.
