Arkansas Tech kicker Mark Ewersmann has been named as the Gulf South
Conference special teams player-of-the-week for his role in the Wonder Boys'
52-28 season opening win over Northeastern State University last week.
Ewersmann, a 6-1, 188-pound junior from Little Rock Catholic, turned in
a perfect performance by hitting all seven of his point-after attempts and
nailing a 27-yard third period field goal.
The league's offensive player-of-the-week was Central Arkansas running back
Kentrel Rogers, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns and caught two
passes for 44 yards and one score in the Bears' 38-31 win over Eastern New
Mexico.
UCA's Cory Cangelosi, a strong safety, was named as the league's top defensive
player after being credited with 14 total tackles ---- 11 of which were solo
efforts ---- and one pass interception.
