GOLDEN SUNS TAKE HOME TEAM TITLE AT UAM WEEVIL GOLF

The Arkansas Tech Golden
Suns Golf team continued its spring season here by
taking home the team title at the UAM Weevil Classic
held at Harbor Lakes Golf Course.
Tech finished the two-day, 36-hole event by shooting a
687 to win the team title. The tournament featured only
two full teams and also included six individuals.
Southern Arkansas finished second as they fired a 743 to
finish in second place.
Leading the way for Tech was senior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.), who took home individual medalist
honors after carding a 167 for 36 holes. Lewis shot an
82 in the first round and the fired an 85 in the final
round.
In
addition to Lewis, Tech’s other three players all
finished in the top five to help the Golden Suns to the
team title.
SAU’s Jill Fennell finished second as she shot a 168 for
36 holes for the Lady Muleriders. Fennell was the first
round leader after carding an 80, before shooting an 88
in Tuesday’s final round.
Other finishers for Tech were sophomore Kyla McIsaac
(Kentville, Nova Scotia), who fired a two-day total of
172 to finish in third place. McIsaac fired rounds of 87
and 85. Freshman Kristina Villines (Compton,
Ark.) shot a 173 (89, 84) to finish in fourth place,
while freshman Alyssia Duvall (Greenwood, Ark.)
shot a 175 (89, 86) to finish in fifth place.
Tech will return to action on April 6-7 to compete at
the 3rd-Annual Mulerider Invitational at Magnolia
Country Club in Magnolia, Ark.
