GOLDEN SUNS TAKE HOME TEAM TITLE AT UAFS LADY LION
WOMEN'S GOLF SPRING CLASSIC

Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf opened up its spring schedule
here the same way it closed its fall schedule by taking
home the team title Tuesday at the University of
Arkansas-Fort Smith Lady Lion Classic held at
Hardscrabble Country Club.
The Golden Suns, who closed out its fall schedule by
taking home the team title at the Rhodes College Fall
Classic held at the Tunica National Golf Club in Tunica,
Miss., shot a two-day, 36-hole total of 695 to finish 16
shots in front of second place Southwestern College
(711).
Tech opened Monday’s first round by carding a 336 and
then followed with a 359 in the final round.
Leading the way for Tech was freshman Ana Morales
(Bogata, Columbia), who shot a 36-hole total of 168 to
finish in third place. Morales opened the tournament by
firing an 81 in the first round and then shot an 87 in
Tuesday’s final round.
Southwestern’s Blair Koehn and Dodge City’s Emma
Cuttmore each shot a 162 to take home individual
medalist honors. Koehn had rounds of 78 and 84, while
Cuttmore fired back-to-back 81s.
In addition to Morales, junior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.) fired a 169 (80, 89) to finish in fourth
place, while freshman Kyla McIsaac (Kentville,
Nova Scotia) shot a 36-hle total of 176 (82, 94) to
finish tied for seventh place. Senior Cassie Bartley
(Shirley, Ark.) and freshman Whitney Hicks
(Sheridan, Ark.) each shot 187s to finish tied for 18th
place. Bartley carded a 93 in the first round and a 94
in the final round, while Hicks shot a 98 in the first
round and posted an 89 in the final round.
The Golden Suns will continue its season on March 17-18
when it competes at the TAMU-Commerce Lady Lion Classic
at the Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas.
