GOLDEN SUNS FINISH EIGHTH AT RAIN-SHORTENED

Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf continued its spring season
here with an eighth place finish in the rain-shortened
Texas A&M-Commerce Lady Lion Invitational held at
Tanglewood Resort.
Due to weather, Tuesday’s second round was cancelled and
the team’s only played one round (18 holes) of the
tournament.
The Golden Suns finished the tournament by shooting a
354 to finish three shots in front of ninth place Dallas
Baptist and six shots behind seventh place Southwestern
Oklahoma.
Nebraska-Omaha took home the team title as the Lady Mavs
shot a tournament-best 324. West Texas A&M shot a 336 to
finish in second place and Redlands Community College
carded a 337 to finish in third place.
Leading the way for Tech was freshman Ana Morales
(Bogata, Columbia) shot an 81 to finish tied for sixth
place. The finish was her fourth straight Top 10
performance and the sixth time this season she has
finished a tournament in the Top 15.
Nebraska-Omaha’s Abbey Weddle, Central Oklahoma’s
Raelynn Farthing and Drury’s Marissa Hill each tied for
individual medalist honors after shooting seven-over par
79s.
In addition to Morales, junior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.) carded an 89 to finish tied for 38th
place, while senior Cassie Bartley (Shirley,
Ark.) shot a 91 to finish tied for 45th place. Freshman
Kyla McIsaac (Kentville, Nova Scotia) shot a 93
to finish in tie for 53rd place and freshman Whitney
Hicks (Sheridan, Ark.) fired a 94 to finish tied for
56th place.
Tech will continue its spring season next week (March
24-25) when they travel to Carrollton, Ga., to compete
at the West Georgia Spring Golf Classic.
