GOLDEN SUNS TAKE HOME TEAM TITLE AT SAU MULERIDER INVITE

The Arkansas Tech Golden
Suns Golf team continued its hot play this spring by
taking home the team title at the SAU Mulerider
Invitational held here at Magnolia Country Club.
The
team title was Tech’s third straight of the spring
season and its fifth in its last 13 tournaments dating
to last season.
Tech finished the two-day, 36-hole event by shooting a
687 to finish five shots in front of second-place
Harding University (692). The tournament featured four
teams and four individuals. Henderson State (701) and
Southern Arkansas (726) finished in third and fourth
place.
Leading the way for Tech was sophomore Kyla McIsaac
(Kentville, Nova Scotia), who fired a two-day, 36-hole
total of 165 to take home individual medalist honors.
McIsaac carded a season-best 83 in the first round and
then followed with a season-best 82 in Tuesday’s final
round.
In
addition to McIsaac, two other Golden Suns finished in
the top five to help secure the team title.
Southern Arkansas’ Magge Becker shot a 167 (89, 78) to
finish in second place.
Other finishers for Tech were freshman Alyssia Duvall
(Greenwood, Ark.), who shot a 36-hole total of 171 (86,
85) to finish in third place, while senior Danielle
Lewis (Toronto, Ont.) fired a 173 (88, 85) to finish
tied for fourth place and freshman Kristina Villines
(Compton, Ark.) carded back-to-back 89s to shoot 178 and
finish tied for 15th place.
Tech will close out the regular season portion of its
spring schedule on April 13-14 when they travel to Heber
Springs, Ark., to compete at the 2009 Natural State Golf
Classic at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club.
