GOLDEN SUNS FINISH FIFTH AT OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY
FALL WOMEN'S GOLF CLASSIC

        OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf continued its fall campaign here Tuesday as the Golden Suns finished fifth out of seven teams at the OCU Women’s Golf Classic presented by Integris Heart Hospital held at the Lincoln Park Golf Course.

Tech, who shot a 323 in Monday’s first round, finished the 36-hole event with a score of 675 after firing a 352 in Tuesday’s second round that was played in windy conditions. Oklahoma City University, the host school, won the meet by shooting a 620 and was followed by Lubbock Christian, who shot a 633 to finish in second place.

Leading the way for Tech was freshman Kyla McIsaac (Kentville, Nova Scotia), who finished the 36-hole event in 13th place after firing a 165. McIsaac, who shot an 81 in the first round, carded an 84 in Tuesday’s second round.   

Lubbock Christian’s Kelly Rainbolt took home individual medalist honors as she shot an eight-over par 152 for 36 holes. OCU teammates Ashley Sholer, the first-round leader and Tamara Campbell finished tied for second after firing nine-over par 153s.

In addition to McIsaac, other Tech finishers included freshman Ana Morales (Bogata, Columbia), who shot a 36-hole total of 166 (79, 87) to finish in a tie for 14th place. Junior Danielle Lewis (Toronto, Ont.) and senior Cassie Bartley (Shirley, Ark.) finished tied for 26th place after carding 175s for 36 holes. Lewis, who shot an 84 in the first round, fired a 91 in the second round, while Bartley shot a 96 in the second round after a 79 in Monday’s first round. Freshman Whitney Hicks (Sheridan, Ark.) rounded out the Tech contingent by shooting a 179 (89, 90) to finish in 31st place in her first collegiate meet.

Tech will conclude its brief fall season on Oct. 15-16 when they compete at the Harding Lady Bisons Fall Classic at the Searcy Country Club in Searcy, Ark.
