GOLDEN SUNS FINISH THIRD AT NATURAL STATE GOLF CLASSIC
HEBER SPRINGS, Arkansas

Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf closed out its regular season
portion of its schedule here Tuesday with a third-place
finish out of nine teams at the Natural State Golf
Classic hosted by Harding University at the Red Apple
Inn and Country Club.
The Golden Suns finished the tournament by shooting a
679 for the 36-hole event and was one shot behind second
place Henderson State (678) and one shot in front of
fourth place West Georgia (680). Tech opened the
tournament by shooting a 336 and then fired a 343 in
Tuesday’s final round.
Montevallo took home the team title as the Lady Falcons
carded a 645 for the two-day event.
Leading the way for Tech was freshman Ana Morales
(Bogata, Columbia), who shot a 162 to finish tied for
second place. The second place finish was Morales third
of the season and her sixth Top 10 finish in eight
events this year. Morales opened the tournament by
firing a 77 and then shot an 85 in Tuesday’s final
round.
Montevallo’s Morgan Bell took home individual medalist
honors as she carded a 158 (77, 81) over 36 holes.
In addition to Morales, freshman Whitney Hicks
(Sheridan, Ark.) shot a season-best 171 (86, 85) to
finish in 14th place, while senior Cassie Bartley
(Shirley, Ark.) carded a season-best 172 (84, 88) to
finish in 15th place. Junior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.) shot a two-day total of 176 (91, 85) to
finish tied for 16th place and freshman Kyla McIsaac
(Kentville, Nova Scotia) shot a 177 (89, 88) to finish
tied for 18th place.
The Golden Suns will return to action on April 20-21
when they compete at the 2008 Gulf South Conference
Championships at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot
Springs, Ark. Tech finished in second place at last
year’s GSC Championships.
