GOLDEN SUNS TAKE HOME TEAM TITLE AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS' SPRING TOURNAMENT

        MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf concluded play here Wednesday by taking home the team title at the Christian Brothers Spring Tournament held at Quail Ridge Golf Club.

Tech finished the two-day event shooting a 670 for 36 holes to win the team title over six others Gulf South Conference schools. Tech finished 11 shots in front of second place Henderson State (681) and 22 shots in front of third place West Georgia (692).

The Golden Suns shot a 333 in Wednesday’s final round after firing a 337 in the first round.

Leading the way for Tech was sophomore Danielle Lewis (Toronto, Canada), who finished second after shooting a 160 for 36 holes. Lewis fired a second-round best 78, after shooting an 82 in Tuesday’s first round.

 Henderson State’s Jenna Chadwick took home individual medalist honors as she shot a 158 for the two-day event. Chadwick had back-to-back rounds of 79. West Georgia’s Natalie Beach finished third after firing a 162 (79, 83) for 36 holes.

Other Tech finishers behind Lewis were senior Jamie Moore (Conway, Ark.), who finished in fifth place after shooting a 166 for 36 holes. Moore had rounds of 82 and 84 respectively. Sophomore Casey Wheeler (Little Rock, Ark.) finished in 10th place after firing a 173 (90, 83) for 26 holes, while senior Carissa Sullivan (Van Buren, Ark.) fired a two-day total of 176 (88, 88) to finish tied for 13th. The final Tech finisher was junior Cassie Bartley (Shirley, Ark.), who finished in 16th place after shooting a 179 for 36 holes. Bartley opened the tournament by firing an 85 and then shot a 94 in Wednesday’s final round.

Tech will return to action next week when they travel to Heber Springs, Ark., to compete the Harding Bison Golf Classic held at the Red Apple Inn on April 16-17.
