WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES SEVENTH AT BUBBA WATSON INVITE

Suns Golf continued its fall season here by finishing
seventh at West Florida’s Bubba Watson Invitational held
at Stonebrook Golf Club.
Tech finished the two-day event by shooting a 674 to
finish seven shots behind sixth-place Henderson State
(667) and Seminole State Community College (667).
Montevallo won the team title as they shot a 645 to
finish two shots in front of West Florida (647) and four
shots in front of Northeastern State (649).
Leading the way for Tech was senior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.), who shot a 161 to finish tied for fifth
place. Lewis, who shot an 82 in Monday’s first round,
carded a season-low 79 in Tuesday’s final round. It was
Lewis’ first Top 10 finish this season and seventh in
the past three years.
St.
Edwards’ Emily Kvinta took home individual medalist
honors as she carded a two-day total of 150.
Montevallo’s Britney Martin and Northeastern State’s
Katie Miller each shot 158s to finish tied for second.
In
addition to Lewis, sophomore Ana Morales (Bogata,
Columbia) shot a 166 for 36 holes to finish tied for
18th place. Morales fired an 80 in the first round and
then carded an 86 in the final round. Sophomore Kyla
McIsaac (Kentville, Nova Scotia) shot a two-day
total of 173 (85, 88) to finish in 30th place, while
freshman Alyssia Duvall (Greenwood, Ark.) carded
back-to-back 90s for a score of 180 for 36 holes to
finish in 36th place and senior Casey Wheeler
(Little Rock, Ark.) shot a 184 (84, 100) for the two-day
event to finish in 38th place.
The
Golden Suns will conclude its fall season on Oct. 6-7
when they travel to Edmond, Okla., to compete in the UCO
Broncho Masters Invitational hosted by the University of
Central Oklahoma.
