WOMEN'S GOLF SHOOTS SCHOOL-RECORD 36-HOLE TOTAL 636
TO FINISH IN 10TH PLACE AT UCO'S FALL CLASSIC
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma –
The Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf made some history here
Tuesday as it completed play in the Chedder’s/UCO
Classic hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma by
shooting a school-record 36-hole total of 636 enroute to
finishing 10th out of 18 teams at the Lincoln Park East
Golf Course.
The 636 score bettered the old 36-hole school record of
645 set at the 2007 Gulf South Conference Championships
at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark.
Tech opened the two-day event by firing a 322 and then
fired a school-record 18-hole total of 314 in Tuesday’s
second round to move up two spots from 12th place. Tech
finished one shot behind ninth-place Texas A&M-Commerce
(635) and two shots in front of 11th place Henderson
State (638). In fact, 10 shots separated the eighth
through 13th place teams.
Leading the way for Tech was redshirt sophomore Ana
Morales (Bogata, Colombia). Morales carded a 36-hole
total of 156 to finish tied for 26th place. The 156 tied
for the second-lowest 36-hole total by a Golden Sun
golfer in school history. Morales carded back-to-back
rounds of 78.
Tarleton State took home the team title as the TexAnns
shot a 36-hole total of 596. St. Edward’s [TX] finished
second as they shot a 601 for 36 holes and Central
Oklahoma carded a 36-hole total of 604 to finish in
third place.
Angelo State’s Raelyn Smith took home individual
medalist honors as she carded a four-under par 136 to
finish 10 shots in front of St. Edwards’ Emily Kvinta,
who fired a 146 for 36 holes to finish in second place.
In addition to Morales, sophomore Alyssia DuVall
(Greenwood, Ark.) carded a 157 for 36 holes to finish in
a tie for 30th place. DuVall carded rounds of 82 and 75
respectively. Duvall’s 75 in Tuesday’s final round tied
for the second-best lowest single round in school
history. Junior Kyla McIsaac (Kentville, Nova
Scotia) shot a 159 (79, 80) to finish in a tie for 40th
place, while freshman Megan Kelley (Greenwood,
Ark.) shot a 167 (86, 81) for 36 holes to finish in a
tie for 71st place. The final two finishers were
freshman Ashley Gourley (Farmington, Ark.), who
shot a 36-hole total of 169 (82, 87) to finish in 76th
place and redshirt freshman Niki Possage
(Dardanelle, Ark.) fired a two-day total of 174 (83, 91)
to finish in a tie for 88th place.
Tech will conclude its fall season on Oct. 19-20 when
