GOLDEN SUNS GOLF OPENS FALL SEASON WITH 15TH-PLACE FINISH AT DRURY'S FALL SHOOTOUT

        SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf team completed play here on Tuesday in the Drury University Fall Shootout held at Rivercut Golf Course by finishing 15th out of 17 teams.

Tech finished the two-day, 36-hole event by shooting a 715 to finish 23 shots behind 13th place Illinois-Springfield (692) and three shots in front of 16th place Northwest Missouri (718). Tech opened the tournament by firing a 345 in Monday’s first round and then carded a 361 in Tuesday’s final round.

Leading the way for the Golden Suns was junior Kyla McIsaac (Kentville, Nova Scotia). McIsaac, who was a Second-Team All-GSC honoree last season, shot a 171 for 36 holes to finish tied for 48th place.

Southern Indiana took home the team title as the Screaming Eagles shot a 611 for 36 holes, while Nebraska-Omaha shot a 613 to finish in second place and Drury, the host team, shot a 627 to finish in third place.

Nebraska-Omaha’s Danielle Suponchick shoot back-to-back 73s for a 146 to take individual medalist honors. Southern Indiana’s Angela Dehning carded a 148 to finish second and Missouri-St. Louis’ Shweta Galande carded a 149 to finish in third place.

In addition to McIsaac, sophomore Ana Morales (Bogotá, Columbia) fired a 171 for 36 holes to finish tied for 51st place. Morales carded an 85 in the first round and the shot an 87 in the final round. Freshman Megan Kelley (Greenwood, Ark.) and redshirt freshman Niki Possage (Dardanelle, Ark.) each carded a 186 to finish tied for 85th place, while sophomore Alyssia Duvall (Greenwood, Ark.) carded a two-day total of 200 (99, 101) to finish in 94th place. Kelley fired rounds of 97 and 89 in her first collegiate meet, while Possage shot a 90 and 96 respectively.

Tech will continue its fall schedule on Sept. 21-22 when they travel to Pace, Fla., to compete in the Bubba Watson/UWF Invitational held at Stonebrook Golf Club. The meet is hosted by West Florida University.
