GOLDEN SUNS FINISH THIRD AT WEST GEORGIA INVITATIONAL

Arkansas Tech Women’s Golf completed play here on
Tuesday, March 25 by finishing third out of five teams
at the West Georgia Invitational held at Mirror Lake
Golf Club.
Tech finished the two-day, 36-hole event by scoring 765
to finish one shot in front of fourth-place Lindenwood
University (766) and 20 shots behind second-place
Harding University (745). Montevallo took home the team
title after firing a two-day total of 709.
The Golden Suns opened the event by shooting a 378 in
Monday’s first round and then carded a 387 in the second
round to finish in third place.
Leading the way for Tech were freshman Ana Morales
(Bogata, Columbia) and junior Danielle Lewis
(Toronto, Ont.). Both Morales and Lewis carded 187s to
finish tied for ninth place. Morales shot a 91 in the
first round and followed that with a 96 in the final
round, while Lewis carded an 86 in the first round and a
101 in the final round.
West Georgia’s Sarah Ross took home individual medalist
honors as she fired a 172 (88, 84) for 36 holes.
Montevallo teammates, Britney Martin and Heather Mutton
fired 176s to finish tied for second place.
In addition to Morales and Lewis, freshman Kyla
McIsaac (Kentville, Nova Scotia) shot a two-day,
36-hole total of 193 (98, 95) to finish in 15th place,
while freshman Whitney Hicks (Sheridan, Ark.)
shot a 201 (103, 98) to finish in a tie for 20th place
and senior Cassie Bartley (Shirley, Ark.) carded
a 204 (106, 98) to finish tied for 22nd place.
The Golden Suns will close out its regular season on
April 14-15 at the Natural State Golf Classic held at
the Red Apple Inn and Country Club in Heber Springs,
Ark.
