WONDER BOYS GOLF FINISHES TIED FOR EIGHT PLACE AT THE CAMERON UNIVERSITY/TERRITORY CLASSIC

        DUNCAN, Oklahoma – Arkansas Tech Men’s Golf completed play here Tuesday at the Cameron University/Territory Classic here at the Territory Golf Club by shooting a 596 to finish in a tie for eighth place out of 14 teams.

Tech, who was in second place after Monday’s first round after shooting a nine-over par 289, struggled in Tuesday’s final round as the Wonder Boys shot a 307 to fall six spots in the team standings to finish tied for eighth place with Delta State. Texas Wesleyan University took home the team title as they fired a 12-over par 572, while Abilene Christian shot a 586 to finish in second place and St. Mary’s [TX] finished third after shooting a 587 for 36 holes.

Leading the way for Tech was junior Scott Genoway (Calgary, Alberta), who shot a 36-hole total of 143. Genoway followed up Monday’s first-round 71 with a 73 in Tuesday’s final round.

Texas Wesleyan’s Mitch Hendon took home individual medalist honors as he shot a one-under par 139 (70, 69) for the two-day event, while Texas Wesleyan teammate, Paco Saracho fired a two-over par 141 to finish two shots behind in second place.

In addition to Genoway, junior B.J. Hawkins (Winnsboro, Texas) carded a 73 in the final round to finish tied for 10th place after shooting a two-day total of 146, while junior Jarred Carlyle (Nashville, Ark.), who was tied for the lead after the first round with Central Oklahoma’s Brent Cole, struggled in the final round and fired an 81 to finish in a tied for 31st place after carding a 36-hole total of 150. Sophomore Jonathon Spikes (Danville, Ark.) shot a 157 (76, 81) to finish tied for 60th place after shooting a 157 and freshman Jacob Trammell (Cabot, Ark.) finished tied for 66th place after carding a two-day total of 160 (78, 82) in his first collegiate tournament.

Tech will return to action on Oct. 5-6 when they travel to Cleveland, Miss., to compete at Delta State’s Derrall Foreman Golf Classic.
