WONDER BOYS CLAIM TEAM TITLE AT OUACHITA BAPTIST
GOLF INVITATIONAL
GLENWOOD, Arkansas –
The Arkansas Tech Wonder
Boy Golf team recently were crowned champions of the
Ouachita Baptist University Invitational. The
tournament was held at the Glenwood Country Club.
The
Wonder Boys finished 10-under-par with a 36-hole team
total of 566, finishing 10 strokes clear of second-place
Henderson State (576). All six Wonder Boy golfers
finished in the Top 14 individually.
Henderson State’s Lourens Kleynhans was the individual
champion with a six-under par 138 in the two day event.
Spots 2-5 with were filled with Wonder Boys.
Senior B.J. Hawkins (Winnsboro, Texas) finished
second with a four-under 138, while senior Jarred
Carlyle (Nashville, Ark.) fired a three-under 141 to
finish in third place and senior Taylor Wallner
(Fayetteville, Ark.) placed fourth with a two-under-par
142. Junior Jonathon Spikes (Danville, Ark.)
carded a one-under-par 143 to finish in fifth place and
junior Andrew Richards (Prescott, Ark.) carded a
three-over-par 147 to finish in a tie for 12th place.
The final Tech finisher was junior Ryan Hitt
(Allen, Texas), who turned in a four-over-par 148 to
finish in 14th place.
