WONDER BOYS CONCLUDE SEASON WITH EIGHTH PLACE FINISH AT NCAA DII CENTRAL/MIDWEST REGIONAL
Tech finished the season with nine top-5 finishes.
EUREKA, MO.— Jason Purdy shot a final-round 77 (+5) for a tournament-score of 224 (+8) to tie for 17th as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys golf team wrapped up their season with an eighth place finish at the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional at Fox Run Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wonder Boys, who made their second consecutive NCAA DII regional tournament, shot a 308 (+20) to finish the tournament with a team score of 910 (+46). Malone University maintained the lead all three days to finish on top with an 886 (+22). Malone, along with Central Missouri, Saginaw Valley State, and Central Oklahoma will all be advancing to the NCAA DII Championship tournament. Michael Coalgate of Nebraska-Kearney finished as individual medalist with a 212 (-4).
Senior Rowdy Garrett finished his collegiate career with a final-day 77 (+5) and tournament score of 227 (11) to tie for 29th, freshman Austin Smith shot an 80 (+8) to finish with a 233 (+17) and tie for 64th, All-Great American Conference player Alex Mahlik and last year's GAC Champion Brian Belz finished in a tie for 69th shooting scores of 234 (+18).
The Wonder Boys finished their season with nine top-5 finishes, five top-3 finishes and a victory at the First Federal Bank Invitational on April 6-8.
