WONDER BOYS RECEIVES FOUR VOTES IN LATEST GOLF WORLD/
NIKE GOLF DIVISION II COACHES' POLL

        NEW YORK, New York Arkansas Tech’s Men’s Golf team received four votes in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll that was released on Wednesday.

The rankings for the Golf World/Nike Golf poll are determined by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and are voted on every three weeks during the season.

In Wednesday’s second poll of the fall season, Tech was one of 27 teams to receive votes. In the preseason poll, the Wonder Boys received 12 votes.

Four Gulf South Conference schools were either ranked or received votes in this week’s D-II Coaches’ Poll.

West Florida, the defending GSC Men’s Golf champions, continues to be the highest ranked GSC school as the Argonauts earned 203 points to rank fifth, after being ranked fourth in the preseason poll. North Alabama, the defending NCAA D-II South Regional champion, moves up two spots to No. 7 in this week’s poll after earning 184 points, Valdosta State jumps up two spots to No. 20 after earning 71 points in this week’s poll and Tech was the only GSC squad to receive votes.

Barry University, the defending NCAA D-II National Champion, jumped up one spot to No. 1 in this week’s poll as Barry earned five first-place votes and 254 points, while Florida Southern falls to No. 2 this week after earning four first-place votes and 249 points and Columbus State earned 242 points to remain ranked third. The final two spots in the Top 5 are held by USC-Aiken at No. 4 and West Florida at No. 5.

The next five begins with Armstrong Atlantic State at No. 6, who earned one first-place votes and is followed by North Alabama at No. 7, Georgia College at No. 8, CSU-Stanislaus at No. 9 and Nova Southeastern moves up three spots to No. 10 and earns the final first-place vote.

Central Oklahoma climbs four spots to No. 11 and is followed by St. Edward’s at No. 12, Abilene Christian and Belmont Abbey are tied for 13th and Washburn falls eight spots to No. 15. Cameron moves up one spot to No. 16, while Sonoma State moves up one spot to No. 17 and Grand Canyon falls four spots to No. 18. Lynn is ranked 19th and Valdosta State rounds out the Top 20 at No. 20.

The final five of the poll begins with CSU-San Bernardino at No. 21 and is followed by Florida Tech at No. 22 and Chico State at No. 23. Lander and Northeastern State round out the poll at No. 24 and 25 respectively.

Other teams receiving votes besides Tech included Indianapolis (28), Western Washington (26), CU-Colorado Springs (22), Hawai’i-Hilo (21), Northern Kentucky (21), Pfeiffer (21), Rollins (15, UC-San Diego (15), Western New Mexico (14), Ferris State (13), Eckerd (12), Barton (8), Coker (8), Clayton State (7), Saginaw Valley State (6), Arkansas Tech (4), St. Cloud State (4), Wayne State (4), Drury (2), Missouri Western (2), Tusculum (2), Bellarmine (1), Newberry (1), Notre Dame de Namur (1), Southwestern Oklahoma (1), St. Mary’s (1) and Winona State (1).
