WONDER BOYS RECEIVE THREE VOTES IN LATEST
GOLF WORLD/NIKE GOLF DIVISION II COACHES' POLL

Tech’s Men’s Golf team received three votes in this
week’s second Golf World/Nike Golf Division II
Coaches’ Poll of the fall season that was released on
Wednesday.
The rankings for the Golf World/Nike Golf poll
are determined by the Golf Coaches Association of
America (GCAA) and are voted on every three weeks during
the season.
In this week’s second poll of the fall season, Tech, who
received two votes in both the preseason and the first
poll of the fall, was one of 31 squads to receive votes
and is one of five Gulf South Conference teams either
ranked or receiving votes.
North Alabama, the defending GSC champion, is ranked
third this season after being ranked eighth in the last
poll, while Valdosta State jumped 14 spots to No. 6 and
West Florida fell nine spots to No. 23 this week. In
addition to Tech, Delta State received six votes in this
week’s poll.
Barry [FL] is the new No. 1 ranked team as they earned
410 points and 12 first place votes, while Georgia
College fell from the top spot to No. 2 this week as
they earned 377 points and three first place votes and
North Alabama is ranked third. Lynn [FL] and St.
Edward’s, who received one first place vote, rounded out
the Top 5 at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively.
Valdosta State headlines the next five at No. 6 and the
Blazers are followed by Chico State at No. 7 and
Columbus State at No. 8. Belmont Abbey moved up 13 spots
to No. 9 this week, while Barton moved into the ranking
this week at No. 10.
Florida Southern begins the next 10 at No. 11 and they
are followed by CSU-Stanislaus at No. 12 and
Indianapolis at No. 13. Newberry, who earned first place
vote, climbs into the poll at No. 14, while Nova
Southeastern falls six spots to No. 15 and USC-Aiken
falls six spots to No. 16. Central Oklahoma is ranked
17th and the Bronchos are followed by Lander at No. 18,
Dallas Baptist at No. 19 and Sonoma State falls 16 spots
to No. 20.
The final five begins with Abilene Christian at No. 21
and they are followed by Western Washington at No. 22
and West Florida at No. 23. CU-Colorado Springs falls
one spot to No. 24, while Central Missouri and Clayton
State are tied at No. 25 this week.
The Wonder Boys, who shot a five-under par 571 to finish
in second place at UNA’s Fall Classic this past week,
will return to action on Oct. 19-20 when they travel to
Destin, Fla., to compete in the Indian Bayou Classic
held at the Indian Bayou Golf Club.
