WONDER BOYS RECEIVE TWO VOTES IN THIS WEEK'S LATEST
GOLF WORLD/NIKE GOLF DIVISION II COACHES' POLL

        NEW YORK, New York Arkansas Tech’s Men’s Golf team received two votes in this week’s first Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the fall season that was released on Thursday.

The rankings for the Golf World/Nike Golf poll are determined by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and are voted on every three weeks during the season.

In this week’s first poll of the fall season, Tech, who received two votes in this season’s preseason poll, was one of 26 squads to receive votes and is one of five Gulf South Conference teams either ranked or receiving votes.

North Alabama, the defending GSC champion, is ranked eighth after being ranked sixth in the preseason poll, while West Florida is ranked 14th and Valdosta State is ranked 20th this week. In addition to Tech, Delta State received one vote in this week’s poll.

Georgia College remains the top-ranked team in this week’s first poll of the fall season as they received nine first place votes and 439 points. Following Georgia College is Columbus State at No. 2 as they earned three first-place votes and 390 points and Barry is ranked third as they received two first-place votes and 365 points. Sonoma State earned three first-place votes and is ranked fourth, while Lynn rounds out the Top 5 at No. 5.

Florida Southern headlines the next five at No. 6 and they are followed by Central Oklahoma at No. 7 and UNA at No. 8. Nova Southeastern climbs two spots to No. 9 and USC-Aiken rounds out the Top 10 at No. 10 this week.

CSU-San Bernardino falls two spots to No. 11 and is followed by CSU-Stanislaus at No. 12 and Indianapolis at No. 13. Following UWF at No. 14 is Clayton State at No. 15, while Chico State falls one spot to No. 16 and Ferris State and St. Edwards are tied at No. 16. Ferris State earned the remaining first place vote. Grand Canyon remains at No. 19 and is followed by VSU at No. 20.

The final five of this week’s poll begins at Lander at No. 21 and they are followed by Belmont Abbey at No. 22. Colorado-Colorado Springs and Northeastern State are tied at No. 23 and CSU-Monterey Bay rounds out the poll at No. 25.

          Tech, who shot a 602 to finish in ninth place at the Territory Classic this past week, will return to action on Oct. 2-3 when they compete at the Derrall Foreman Classic hosted by Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.
