WONDER BOYS CONCLUDE FALL SEASON WITH NINTH PLACE FINISH AT INDIAN BAYOU COLLEGIATE GOLF CLASSIC

        DESTIN, Florida – Arkansas Tech Men’s Golf closed out its fall campaign here Tuesday by firing a 609 to finish in ninth place out of 18 teams at the Indian Bayou Classic held here at the Indian Bayou Golf Club.

Tech opened the tournament by firing a 299 in Monday’s first round, before carding a 310 in Tuesday’s second round. Tech finished three shots behind Centenary College (606) and five shots in front of Birmingham Southern and Delta State, who each shot 614s to finish tied for 10th place.

Leading the way for Tech was senior Ryan Hitt (Allen, Texas), who shot a 36-hole total of 144 to finish tied for fifth place. Hitt carded back-to-back rounds of 72. Hitt finishes the fall season with a team-best 72.1 scoring average as he had two top five finishes and two Top 10 finishes.

North Alabama, the host school for the tournament, took home first place honors as the Lions shot a two-day total of 572 to finish 10 shots in front of Valdosta State (582) and 20 shots in front of Shorter and Columbus State, who both shot 595s to finish tied for third place.

UNA’s first-place team finish was aided by the performance of Brett Munson as he shot a 10-under par 134 total for the 2-day event to take home individual medalist honors. Columbus State’s Stephen Swanepoel shot a 139 to finish in second place, while Shorter’s Arvid Bengtsson fired a 140 to finish in third place.

In addition to Hitt, other Tech finishers were senior Drew Richards (Prescott, Ark.), who carded a 151 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. Richards shot rounds of 71 and 80 respectively. Senior Jonathon Spikes (Danville, Ark.) fired a 2-day total of 157 (78, 79) to finish tied for 59th place, while freshman Parker Hale (Benton, Ark.) fired a 158 (79, 79) for 36 holes to finish tied for 66th place. The final finisher for Tech was freshman Colton Dillard (Farmington, Ark.) as he shot a 160 for 36 holes to finish tied for 73rd place.
