WONDER BOYS RECEIVE SIX VOTES IN THIS WEEK'S GOLF WORLD/NIKE GOLF DIVISION II TOP 25 COACHES' POLL

        NEW YORK, New York Arkansas Tech’s Men’s Golf team received six votes in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the fall season that was released on Thursday.

The rankings for the Golf World/Nike Golf poll are determined by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and are voted on every three weeks during the season.

In Thursday’s final poll of the fall season, Tech was one of 23 teams to receive votes. In the preseason poll, Tech received 12 votes and then received four votes in the second poll of the fall season.

Tech was one of four Gulf South Conference schools that were either ranked or received votes in this week’s poll.

West Florida, the defending GSC champion, reclaimed the top spot in this week’s final poll as the Argonauts earned 277 points and two of the 12 possible first place votes. Valdosta State is ranked 14th this week, while North Alabama, the defending NCAA D-II South Region champs, concludes the fall season ranked 17th and Tech was the only GSC squad to receive votes.

Following West Florida in this week’s poll is St. Edward’s at No. 2 as they received 262 points and two first place votes. Nova Southeastern jumps two spots to No. 3 as they received 247 points and two first place votes and is followed by Sonoma State at No. 4 and Florida Southern rounds out the Top 5 at No. 5. Sonoma State received four first place votes, while Florida Southern earned a first place vote.

The next five begins with Barry at No. 6, as they earned the final first place vote and 210 points. Following Barry is USC-Aiken at No. 7, Chico State and CSU-Stanislaus are tied at No. 8 and Western Washington remains 10th this week.

Columbus State falls three spots to No. 11 and is followed by Central Oklahoma at No. 12 and Abilene Christian at No. 13. Valdosta State is ranked 14th, while Armstrong Atlantic State falls two spots to No. 15 and Grand Canyon falls two spots to No. 16. North Alabama climbs two spots to No. 17 and is followed by Georgia College at No. 18, Washburn at No. 19 and Hawai’i-Hilo rounds out the Top 20 at No. 20.

The final five of the poll begins with Belmont Abbey at No. 21 and they are followed by Cameron at No. 22, Northeastern State at No. 23, Lynn at No. 24 and CU-Colorado Springs completes the final fall poll at No. 25.

 Other teams receiving votes besides Tech included Florida Tech (33), CSU-Monterey Bay (28), CSU-San Bernardino (20), Lander (20), Rollins (19), Clayton State (14), Barton (13), Newberry (10), Pfeiffer (10), Findlay (9), Indianapolis (7), UC-San Diego (6), Drury (5), Indiana [PA] (5), Notre Dame de Namur 4, Fairmont State (3), St. Cloud State (2), Wayne State (2), Clarion (1), Midwestern State (1), Saint Martin’s (1) and St. Mary’s [TX] (1).
