THE SOUTHWESTERN SERIES
Today's game marks the ninth meeting all-time between the two teams, with the series tied at four wins apiece. The actual on-field record is 5-3 in favor of the Wonder Boys, but a forfeit in 1991 evened the series. The series dates back to 1968, as Arkansas Tech won a 21-7 decision in Fort Smith. The two teams did not play again until 1988, as the Wonder Boys dropped a 6-0 decision in Weatherford. A three-game winning streak followed in 1989, 1990, and 1991 for the Wonder Boys; but Southwestern has won two of the last three meetings, winning the 1993 meeting before the Wonder Boys won the 1994 meeting, and most recently Southwestern won in 2011 after the series resumed when both schools joined the Great American Conference.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Wonder Boys play just their second consecutive game outside the friendly confines of Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.
WONDERFUL AGAINST OKLAHOMA
Arkansas Tech is 10-2 in its last 12 games against schools from Oklahoma.
DEPARTMENT OF REDUNDANCY DEPARTMENT
The Wonder Boys are 3-0 in games where they outscore their opposition.
The Wonder Boys will seek to keep the winning ways going and push the winning streak to three games. After opening the season with a 16-14 win over Bacone, Tech endured a three-game skid with losses to current #11 Ouachita Baptist and #12 Henderson State. Since then, the Wonder Boys returned to the friendly confines of Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field for a pair of games against Northwestern Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma, and picked up a pair of wins in the process. Most notably, last week's come-from-behind win over Southeastern Oklahoma allowed the Wonder Boys to win their sixth consecutive homecoming game.
BECOMING MORE OFFENSIVE BY THE DAY
The Wonder Boys offense continues to climb the rankings in the Great American Conference. Tech currently boasts the fourth-most prolific offense in the league, behind Henderson State, Southeastern Oklahoma, and Southern Arkansas.
IT'S A SPECIAL TEAMS THING
Arkansas Tech ranks second in the GAC in kickoff return average, bring kicks back at a clip of 22.6 yards per attempt.
Kicker Trevor Pinkston's nine field goals leads the Great American Conference. He is tied for fifth nationally with his 1.50 field goals per game average,
FINDING HIS LEGS
Arkansas Tech quarterback Tanner Marsh ranks 21st in the nation in total offense, averaging 299.5 yards per game. He ranks second in the Great American Conference in that category, behind Henderson State's Kevin Rodgers (334.8 yards per game). Marsh has achieved his offensive production through a balanced approach both on the ground and in the air. The senior is the Wonder Boys' leading rusher, averaging 50.3 yards per game, while also passing for 249.2 yards per game. The senior has also caught a pair of passes this season for 21 yards.
THOU SHALT NOT PASS
Arkansas Tech ranks second in the GAC in opponent fourth down conversion percentage, allowing conversions on just 35.7 percent of the attempts (5-14). Only Southern Arkansas' defense has been stingier, as the Muleriders allow conversions at only a 23.1 percent clip (3-13).
Arkansas Tech's offense has topped the 400-yard mark three times in the last four games.
