WONDER BOY FOOTBALL COACHES NAME MVPS FROM
SOUTHERN ARKANSAS GAME

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Arkansas Tech football coaching staff has selected its Most Valuable Players from its 37-24 home win on Saturday against Southern Arkansas.

The Offensive MVP honors were shared by senior center Torrence Wright (Sulphur Springs, Texas) and senior receiver Landon Turner (Destrehan, La.). Wright, who was named the Offensive MVP following the West Alabama game, earned his second MVP honor this season after grading out at 88 percent in the win over the Muleriders, according to Tech Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Steve Mullins. Against SAU, Wright recorded seven knockdown and two pancake blocks and helped the Wonder Boys offense record 397 yards of offense and limited the Muleriders to no sacks in 75 plays. Turner earns his second MVP honor of the season as he honored after the Northeastern State game. Against SAU, Turner graded out at 86 percent as he caught eight passes for 129 yards, including gaining 31 yards after the catch and scored on a 7-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Nick Graziano (Moraga, Calif.) in the second quarter.

On defense, the coaches awarded MVP honors to senior defensive back Adrian Holiday (West Helena, Ark.). Holiday earns his first MVP honor of the season after grading out at 81 percent in the win over the Muleriders. Against SAU, Holiday recorded five tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, a pass break-up and forced a fumble that led to a 75-yard touchdown by junior linebacker Brandon Wright (Stuttgart, Ark.) that give Tech a 14-3 lead late in the second quarter.

The coaches awarded Special Teams MVP honors to redshirt freshman fullback Cody Lewis (Houston, Texas). Mullins said that Lewis earns the special teams honor after being the high point man on Tech’s kick coverage team.

Tech (4-2 overall, 2-2 GSC) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they host West Georgia (0-6 overall, 0-4 GSC) for its annual Homecoming game. Kickoff for Saturday’s homecoming game is slated for 6 p.m. in Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.
