WONDER BOYS MOVES TO EIGHTH IN LATEST
NCAA DIVISION II
SUPER REGIONAL TWO POLL

Arkansas Tech Football earned one vote in this latest
American Football Coaches’ Association (AFCA) Division
II Poll, which was released on Monday. The one vote puts
Tech eighth among the nine schools that received votes.
The poll is voted on by 25 AFCA-member head coaches from
NCAA Division II schools from around the country. The
coaches will vote every Sunday during the regular season
and the poll will be distributed on Mondays.
Tech, who improved to 6-2 overall on the season and 4-2
in the Gulf South Conference thanks to its 44-14 win
this past Saturday at Henderson State, is one of two GSC
schools mentioned in this week’s ninth poll of the
regular season. North Alabama remains the No. 1 ranked
team in Division II as the Lions received all 25 first
place votes and 625 points.
Following UNA (9-0) in this week’s poll is Central
Washington (9-0) at No. 2, while Northwest Missouri
State (8-1) jumps one spot to No. 3 and the Bearcats are
followed by Minnesota State-Mankato (9-0) at No. 4 and
Grand Valley State (8-1) at No. 5.
The next five in the poll begins with Minnesota-Duluth
(8-1) at No. 6 and they are followed by Tarleton State
(8-1) at No. 7 and Nebraska-Kearney (8-1) at No. 8.
Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-1) and Bloomsburg (8-1) rounds
out this week’s Top 10 at Nos. 9 and 10 respectively.
North Carolina-Pembroke (7-1) jumps to four spots to No.
11 this week and they are followed by West Liberty State
(8-1) at No. 12 and Midwestern State (7-2) leaps four
spot to No. 13. Albany State (7-1) falls six spots to
No. 14, while Abilene Christian (7-2) falls six spots to
No. 15 and Tuskegee (6-2) jumps three spots to No. 16.
Charleston (8-1) falls seven spots to No. 17 and is
followed by Carson-Newman (7-2) at No. 18, Central
Missouri (7-2) at No. 19 and California [PA] (7-2)
rounds out the Top 20 at No. 20.
The final five of this week’s poll begins with Edinboro
[PA] (7-2) at No. 21 and they are followed by Hillsdale
[MI] (7-2) at No. 22 and Missouri Western State (7-2)
falls 11 spots to No. 23. Saginaw Valley (7-2) and
Bentley (8-1) move into this week’s poll at Nos. 24 and
25 respectively.
Tech (6-2 overall, 4-2 GSC) returns to action on
Saturday, Oct. 31, when the Wonder Boys play host to
Delta State (4-4 overall, 3-3 GSC) for a 6 p.m. game in
Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field. The game will mark
Tech’s final home game of the regular season and also
the final home game for Tech’s 22-member senior class.
