WONDER BOYS RANKED 10TH IN LATEST NCAA DIVISION II
SUPER REGIONAL TWO POLL

Arkansas Tech Football enters this Saturday’s Homecoming
game with West Georgia ranked 10th in this week’s second
installment of the NCAA Division II Super Regional Two
poll.
The Super Regional rankings, which will be released
weekly leading up to the end of the regular season, are
used to determine the six teams that advance into the
NCAA Division II playoffs out of the NCAA’s four super
regions.
Tech, who is 4-2 overall and a 2-2 in the Gulf South
Conference following its 37-24 home win last Saturday
over Southern Arkansas, is one of three GSC schools
ranked in this week’s second Super Regional II Poll.
Tech’s region includes teams from the GSC, the SIAC
(Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and the
SAC (South Atlantic Conference).
Both of Tech’s losses are to teams ranked in this week’s
Super Regional Two poll as North Alabama (7-0 overall,
7-0 D-II) is ranked No. 1 and West Alabama (4-3 overall,
3-2 D-II) is ranked ninth, one spot ahead of Tech.
North Alabama sits atop the Super Regional Two poll for
the second consecutive week. Albany State (6-0 overall,
6-0 D-II) out of the SIAC is ranked second and
Carson-Newman (5-2 overall, 4-2 D-II) out of the SAC is
ranked third. UNC-Pembroke (6-1 overall, 5-1 D-II), an
NCAA Division II independent, is ranked fourth and Mars
Hill (4-2 overall, 4-1 D-II) from the SAC is ranked
fifth.
Fort Valley State (5-2 overall, 4-2 D-II), who is from
the SIAC, is ranked sixth and they are followed by
Wingate (5-1 overall, 5-1 D-II), who is from the SAC, is
ranked seventh. Morehouse (4-2 overall, 4-2 D-II) from
the SIAC is ranked eighth and they are followed by West
Alabama and Tech respectively.
The Wonder Boys return to action on Oct. 17, when they
host West Georgia (0-6 overall, 0-4 GSC) for Homecoming
2009. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Thone Stadium at
Buerkle Field.
