TECH FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES ITS FOUR SUMMER CAMP DATES

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech University has announced that it would be conducting five football camps on the Tech campus this summer, according to Wonder Boys Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Steve Mullins.

Tech’s first camp will be Youth Day Camp from June 9-11. The camp is open to anyone between the ages of 7-12 and will run from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. each day. The cost of the three-day youth day camp is $45 per person and includes a t-shirt. Registration for the camp begins at 8:30 a.m. on June 9 at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field on the Tech campus.

The second camp will be a passing skills camp on June 12. The cost of the camp is $100 for day campers and $150 for overnight campers. The passing skills camp, which is limited to the first 15 campers at each position, will feature small group instruction from Tech’s offensive and defensive position coaches, as well as, select area high school coaches. In addition, the camp’s emphasis will be on individual technique in the passing game and campers will be formed into teams that will compete in Tech’s 7-on-7 Tournament on June 13. Shoulder pads, helmets and mouthpieces must be worn and provided by each camper.

Tech’s third camp is a Team 7-on-7 Camp on June 13. The camp is scheduled to begin with check-in at 8 a.m., with the first game starting at 9 a.m. and the last games beginning at 4 p.m. The cost of the camp is $200 per team. Teams that attend this camp will practice against other teams in pass skeleton drills, with the emphasis being on live pass repetitions and teaching, not competition. In addition, the teams will play games on Tech’s Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field and the school’s practice fields and be officiated by Tech’s football staff.

The fourth camp of the summer is a team camp scheduled for June 14. The cost of the one-day camp is $40 per student-athlete and is scheduled to run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Team participating in both the 7-on-7 and team camps can arrange dorm space on campus by contacting Camp Director Scott Preston for costs and details. The team camp will allow each team to receive valuable live repetitions against other schools and systems. Teams will practice in all phases of practicing including: inside drill, 1-on-1’s, skeleton and scrimmages.

Tech’s fifth and final camp is its 11th Annual Lineman Camp, which includes offensive and defensive linemen, in addition to linebackers and tight ends. The Lineman Camp will be held from June 22-25 and is open to kids in grades 7-12. Registration begins at 11 a.m. on June 22 at the Hull Building on the Tech campus. The cost of the camp is $225 for overnight campers and $175 for commuter. The overnight campers will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lineman Camp is designed for campers to develop fundamental skills which enable tight ends, linebackers, offensive and defensive linemen to be successful. Among some of the things that will be taught are 2 and 3-point stances, drive and zone blocking for offensive linemen, pulling and trapping and 3 and 5-step pass pro techniques on offense, along with drive, reach, down and trap block reaction and pass rush techniques on defense.
