RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Arkansas Tech Cross Country team was recently named one of 98 programs selected to the 2008 NCAA Division II U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team list.

Tech, who completed its season this past November with a school-best fourth place at the NCAA D-II South Regional in Searcy, Ark., had a team cumulative grade point average of 3.100.

Senior rehabilitation science major Brianna Greene (Harrison, Ark.), sophomore nursing major Lauren Karnitz (DeSoto, Kan.) and freshman nursing major Jessica Norris (Russellville, Ark.) were recognized for their outstanding academic performance by the USTFCCCA as they were named to the individual Division II Cross Country All-Academic Team.

In addition to the academic honors from the USTFCCCA, Greene and Karnitz were also named to the Gulf South Conference’s Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team, while four other Golden Suns were named to the GSC Women’s Cross Country Academic Honor Roll.

Adams State College was named the USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year.

Tech was also joined on the All-Academic Team list by fellow GSC members Harding and Alabama-Huntsville. Seattle Pacific University had the highest overall team grade point average with a 3.737.
