GOLDEN SUNS CROSS COUNTRY CONCLUDES SEASON WITH A 19TH
PLACE FINISH AT SATURDAY'S NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL MEET
MEMPHIS, Tennessee –
Arkansas Tech’s Women’s Cross Country team concluded its
2006 season here Saturday with a 19th place finish at
the NCAA South Regional Meet held hosted by Christian
Brothers University at Plough Park.
The Golden Suns scored 461 points to finish 15 points
behind 18th place finisher Francis Marion (446 points).
Harding, the GSC champion, won the 22-team meet with 37
points, while Tampa was second with 88 points and
Florida Southern was third with 132 points.
Leading the way for Tech was freshman Melissa
Pollreis (Gravette, Ark.), who ran the 6,000-meter
course in a season-high 6K time of 25:31 to finish in
72nd place overall.
North Alabama’s Emry McKay took home individual medalist
honors as she ran a time of 21:38, while Harding’s Janee
Jones, the GSC’s individual champion, finished second
with a time of 21:41.
Sophomore Brianna Greene (Harrison, Ark.) was the
next Tech finisher as she ran a time of 25:36 to finish
75th overall. Greene’s time was her best 6K performance
of the season. Junior Jessica Miller (Van Buren,
Ark.) ran a season-best 6K time of 26:43 to finish 110th
place, while freshman Jessica Jervis (Cabot,
Ark.) ran a time of 26:54 to finish in 113th place.
Jervis’ time was also a season-best 6K time.
The final two finishers for the Golden Suns were
freshman Michelle Pollreis (Gravette, Ark.), who
ran a time of 27:55 to finish in 127th place and junior
Molly Fleming (Cabot, Ark.) ran a season-best 6K
time of 31:42 to finish in 145th place.
