BAILEE MILLER EARNS HER FOURTH GSC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONOR
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech freshman Bailee Miller was named
the Gulf South Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner
of the Week for the fourth time this season by the
league office in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday.
With her fourth weekly honor, Miller became the first
female to earn GSC Runner of the Week honors four times
in the same season since the award’s inception in 2006.
Miller,
a native of Dover, Ark., earns this week’s honor after
taking home first place honors at last Saturday’s
Harding Lady Bison Stampede in Searcy, Ark. Miller ran
the rain-soaked 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:26.
The first-place was Miller third of the season in four
events and her performance helped the Golden Suns finish
second overall as a team.
At the Lady Bison Stampede, Miller outran Harding’s
Esther Kosgei, the 2008 GSC Women’s Cross Country
champion. Kosgei ran her home course in a time of 19:28.
It is the ninth time a Tech runner has been honored as a
Runner of the Week since the league began the weekly
honor.
Miller and her teammates will return to action
this weekend when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to
compete in the 21st-Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country
Festival. The Chile Pepper is one of the premier cross
country meets in the entire United States.
