BAILEE MILLER EARNS THIRD STRAIGHT GSC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONOR
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech freshman Bailee Miller has been
named the Gulf South Conference Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week for the third consecutive week on
Wednesday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.
With her third straight weekly honor, Miller becomes the
first female to earn GSC Runner of the Week honors for
three consecutive weeks since the award’s inception in
2006.
Miller,
a native of Dover, Ark., earns this week’s honor after
running a time of 18:08 to finish in 16th place at last
Saturday’s Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo.
The 18:08 time is the fourth fastest 5,000-meter time in
school history and Miller’s fastest time of the season,
bettered her old personal best of 18:23 set earlier this
month at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic.
At the MSSU Stampede, Miller was the first GSC runner to
finish the race that featured 359 runners and 41 teams.
Tech, who is ranked third in this week’s latest USTFCCCA
Division II South Region poll, finished the meet with a
13th place finish.
It is the eighth time a Tech runner has been honored as
a Runner of the Week since the league began the weekly
honor.
Miller and her teammates will take two weeks
off before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 10,
when they compete at the Harding Bison Stampede in
Searcy, Ark.
