BAILEE MILLER REPEATS AS GSC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech freshman Bailee Miller has been
named the Gulf South Conference’s Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week on
Wednesday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.
Miller,
a native of Dover, Ark., earns this week’s honor after
running a two-mile school-record of 11:22 in taking home
first place honors at last Friday’s 3rd-Annual Tech
Twilight Meet. The 11:22 bettered the school’s old
2-mile mark of 12:00
set by former Golden Sun Jennifer Edwards in
2003.
It is the second straight meet that Miller has taken
home first place honors at a meet as she ran a time of
18:23 at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Meet on Sept. 5 to
finish first among runners affiliated with a team and
third place overall.
“Bailee continues to impress early on in her career,”
Golden Suns Head Coach Tom Aspel said. “She ran a
good race last Friday night.”
At the Tech Twilight Meet, Tech, who is ranked third in
this week’s latest USTFCCCA Division II South Regional
poll, finished fourth out of six teams (66 points) as
Arkansas-Little Rock (41 points) took home the team
title for the third consecutive year.
It is the seventh time a Tech runner has been honor as a
Runner of the Week since the league began the weekly
honor in 2006.
Miller and her teammates return to action this
coming Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Joplin,
Mo., to compete in the Missouri Southern Stampede.
