BAILEE MILLER NAMED GSC'S WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech freshman Bailee Miller has been
named this week’s Gulf South Conference Women’s Cross
Country Runner of the Week on Wednesday by the league
office in Birmingham, Ala.
Miller,
a native of Dover, Ark., earns this week’s honor after
running an 18:23 to finish in third place overall and
first place among runners competing with their teams at
last Saturday’s Brook Memphis Twilight Run held at the
Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn. Her time of
18:23 is tied for the fourth fastest 5,000-meter time in
school history. Former Golden Sun Siobhan Lenihan
also ran a time of 18:23 at the 2002 GSC Championship
Meet in Huntsville, Ala.
“Bailee really ran a great race last weekend and more
than held her own against some the top competition in
the Southeast,” Golden Suns Head Coach Tom Aspel
said Wednesday.
At the Memphis Twilight Meet, Tech finished 11th out of
24 teams (255 points) and was third among the
non-Division I teams at the meet.
Miller becomes the first Golden Suns runner to be named
a Runner of the Week this season and the sixth overall
since the league began the weekly honor in 2006.
The Golden Suns return to action this coming Friday when
they host its second-annual Tech Twilight Run. The meet,
which will feature both men’s and women’s teams, begins
at 6:30 at Tucker Coliseum.
