GOLDEN SUNS REMAINS THIRD IN LATEST USTFCCCA
NCAA DIVISION II
SOUTH REGIONAL RANKINGS
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Women’s Cross Country remained third in
this week’s fourth NCAA Division II South Regional
rankings that are compiled by the United States Track &
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Tech was ranked fourth in the Preseason Division II
South Regional rankings, before moving up one spot to
No. 3 in the initial weekly poll three weeks ago and has
remained third in the last four polls.
The USTFCCCA NCAA Division II region poll is released
every week during the regular season. The poll ranks the
Top 10 men’s and women’s cross country teams in each of
the eight NCAA regions. Eight regional representatives
coordinate the voting in their own region with input
from the coaches.
Tech remained third this week after coming in second
place at last weekend’s Harding Lady Bison Stampede. At
the meet, Tech scored 53 points as it had two of its
runners finish in the Top 5.
Tampa, the two-time defending South Region champion,
remains atop this week’s poll and the Spartans are
followed by Harding at No. 2. Following Tech in the poll
this week is West Florida, who moved up to No. 4 and
Florida Southern rounds out the Top 5 at No. 5.
The next five in the poll begins with Florida Tech at
No. 6 and they are followed by West Georgia at No. 7,
while West Alabama jumps to No. 8. This week’s poll is
rounded out by Alabama-Huntsville at No. 9 and Valdosta
State at No. 10 respectively.
