GOLDEN SUNS REMAINS THIRD IN LATEST USTFCCCA D-II
SOUTH REGIONAL RANKINGS

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech Women’s Cross Country remained third in this week’s third NCAA Division II South Regional rankings that are compiled by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Tech was ranked fourth in the Preseason Division II South Regional rankings, before moving up one spot to No. 3 in the initial weekly poll two weeks ago and has remained third in the last two polls.

The USTFCCCA NCAA Division II region poll will be released every week during the regular season beginning on Sept. 15. The poll ranks the Top 10 men’s and women’s cross country teams in each of the eight NCAA regions. Eight regional representatives coordinate the voting in their own region with input from the coaches.

Tech remained third this week despite not competing last weekend. The Golden Suns will return to action on Oct. 10 when they compete at the Harding Bison Stampede in Searcy, Ark. So far this season, Tech has finished 13th out of 41 teams at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 19, 11th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic on Sept. 5 and fourth place at its own 3rd-Annual Tech Twilight Run on Sept. 11.

Tampa, the two-time defending South Region champion, remains atop this week’s poll and the Spartans are followed by Harding at No. 2. Following Tech in the polls is Florida Southern at No. 4 and West Georgia rounds out the Top 5 at No. 5.

The next five in the poll begins with Florida Tech at No. 6, while West Florida moves into this week’s poll at No. 7. Alabama-Huntsville falls one spot to No. 8 and the Lady Chargers are followed by Nova Southeastern at No. 9 and West Alabama rounds out this week’s poll at No. 10.
