GOLDEN SUNS REMAINS THIRD IN LATEST USTFCCCA

SOUTH REGIONAL RANKINGS
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Women’s Cross Country remained third in
this week’s third NCAA Division II South Regional
rankings that are compiled by the United States Track &
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Tech was ranked fourth in the Preseason Division II
South Regional rankings, before moving up one spot to
No. 3 in the initial weekly poll two weeks ago and has
remained third in the last two polls.
The USTFCCCA NCAA Division II region poll will be
released every week during the regular season beginning
on Sept. 15. The poll ranks the Top 10 men’s and women’s
cross country teams in each of the eight NCAA regions.
Eight regional representatives coordinate the voting in
their own region with input from the coaches.
Tech remained third this week despite not competing last
weekend. The Golden Suns will return to action on Oct.
10 when they compete at the Harding Bison Stampede in
Searcy, Ark. So far this season, Tech has finished 13th
out of 41 teams at the Missouri Southern Stampede on
Sept. 19, 11th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic on
Sept. 5 and fourth place at its own 3rd-Annual Tech
Twilight Run on Sept. 11.
Tampa, the two-time defending South Region champion,
remains atop this week’s poll and the Spartans are
followed by Harding at No. 2. Following Tech in the
polls is Florida Southern at No. 4 and West Georgia
rounds out the Top 5 at No. 5.
The next five in the poll begins with Florida Tech at
No. 6, while West Florida moves into this week’s poll at
No. 7. Alabama-Huntsville falls one spot to No. 8 and
the Lady Chargers are followed by Nova Southeastern at
No. 9 and West Alabama rounds out this week’s poll at
No. 10.
